Community Development

Modern sewer and water systems, parks and playgrounds, libraries, streets and sidewalks are building blocks that shape the places we live. These are the type of projects communities are carrying out with the help of Pennsylvania’s LDDs.  Working closely with local officials, Development Districts prepare and submit applications for projects, secure funds to implement them and oversee projects as they’re constructed. Whether it’s transportation, economic development or land use, LDDs carry out development and planning processes with significant opportunity for public input and involvement.  LDDs serve as regional forums where residents come together to address critical issues, exchange views and chart a course for their communities’ future.

Broadband Deployment

High speed telecommunications service, via broadband, is vital if rural regions of Pennsylvania are to enjoy the benefits of economic development, education, medical care, and social communication.  LDDs are working with the residents of their regions, providing them with information and materials about broadband and helping them work through the process to secure high speed service.

Strategic Planning

Even as the LDDs and the regions they serve wrestle with today’s complex issues, they never lose sight of the trends and opportunities shaping their future.  LDDs carry out numerous planning programs such as: Transportation Improvement Plans, Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies, Land use, Transportation, & Economic Development plans. logoLDD
